Fernando Botero Angulo (born April 19, 1932 in Medellín, Antioquia) is a Colombian figurative artist, self-titled "the most Colombian of Colombian artists" early on, coming to prominence when he won the first prize at the Salón de Artistas Colombianos in 1959.

Born 1932 on the Island of Reichenau, Lake Constance, Germany. Training as typo-grapher in Germany and in Switzerland. Studied graphic design from 1954 to 1958. Emigrated to the United States in 1960. Worked as a freelance designer in New York and San Francisco before returning to Europe in 1963.
