John Jasperse is Artistic Director/Choreographer of John Jasperse Company. He also formed Thin Man Dance, Inc., a New York-based not-for-profit organization in 1996. John's work has been presented both nationally and internationally (Brazil, Chile, Israel, Japan, throughout Europe).
José Limón was a very important figure in the development in modern dance. In 1928 he moved to NYC after studying as an art major for a year at UCLA. New York was where he saw his first dance performance which "simply and irrevocably changed my life."
Doug Varone graduated with a BFA in dance from SUNY Purchase. He is the recipient of two Bessie Awards for his choreography of Boats Leaving (2006). His unique way of creating dances has included such techniques as using images from newspaper clippings to inspire movement. Other works include Rise
